Avignon Festival Off : the greatest theater in the world

Cherry Festival at Epicurium

18 and June 19, Epicurium, living museum of fruits and vegetables, is organizing a festive weekend on the theme of the cherry for the transition to summer.

Many activities are planned for children and adults. Activities offered in addition to visiting the exhibition and gardens:

Medieval celebration of the Drac

Popular medieval and fun celebration, on 28 May 2011 from 11 am to 1am in the steets and squares throughout Mondragon. 


During the day,lots of events : games for children, a big crafts market, regional products market, demonstrations of old trades, and a medieval warriors' camp - the town of Mondragon goes totally back to the Middle Ages.

 

As night falls,parades of floats, with tumblers, musicians, dancers, jugglers, acrobats, knights ... and of course the Drac himself - the dragon! Covered with seaweed, flames darting from his eyes, a spiny crest the length of his back and a long dragon tail ...

 

Children will be amazed by all the animation and discover the legend of the famous dragon which which haunts the waters of the Rhône river...

 

A super celebration - not to be missed !

Cherries galore

In May, it's cherry time!

 

From 4 to 28 May, the educational farm "L'Oiselet" offers to discover all the different varieties of cherries, taste the cherries in the orchards, prepare the famous cherry cake known as the "clafoutis" (2 € supplement). A fun event to share as a family. Price: 4.50 € per person or 40 € for 10 entrances. Free under 2.

The Jarditrain : an extraordinary garden

Discover this universe of 25 LGB trains which travel over 650 meters of track in a landscaped setting with over 3000 dwarf plantings, model train stations, villages, roads, bridges, lakes, mountains, and 250 figurines. The entire garden is on a 1/25 scale, which corresponds to 7-centimeter santon figurines.


It is really fun to visit the garden with the list of characters and animals to find throughout the garden !Inside the building, there are wooden train tracks on low tables available to children.

In Sault, the Centre de découverte de la Nature (Nature Discovery Centre) is dedicated to providing information on the region, its flora and fauna through Nature displays on 600m² of permanent and temporary exhibition space: Wild animals on Mont Ventoux, Water in the Vaucluse, History of the Mont Ventoux forest... Learn all about Nature thanks to signs and interactive terminals, videos, sensory chambers and other games.


For a sweet tooth! Nougaterie Boyer organises tours on request to show how nougat and almond macaroons are made.


Then head for Mont Ventoux!


On the South face: hike along marked forest trails (topo guides at the Tourist Bureau in Sault), or starting from Chalet Reynard to reach the peak along a ridge-top trail.


On the North face: the Mont Serein ski resort is your starting point for:

-The J.H. Fabre discovery trail

-Hiking on GR4 and GR9

-Mountain biking

Horse drawn carriage ride through the vineyards


On Wednesdays, we depart by horse-drawn carriage for an excursion through the heart of Ventoux, famous for its ochre, from 9.30am to 12pm.

At each stop in the forest of Sablons, our guide will tell you the story of ochre and the vine.

At the end of the tour, wine tasting of Ventoux wines for adults and fruit juice for children!

Medieval Einkorn Festival

At Monieux on 5th September, we celebrate Einkorn.

We pay tribute to this mountain wheat with a market which features regional products, along with an arts and crafts fair, exhibitions and conferences, attended by the guilds.

Grotte de Thouzon: a cool journey back 60 million years!

In the village of Le Thor, just a few kilometres from L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the Thouzon Cave was discovered in 1902.
